Tips for Earning Hyatt Globalist
WHAT IS HYATT GLOBALIST
Hyatt Globalist is the top tier status for Hyatt brand.
HOW DO PEOPLE EARN HYATT GLOBALIST STATUS?
- 60 qualifying nights per calendar year (award stays and stays from free night certificates count)
- 100,000 base points per calendar year
- 20 qualifying meetings/events per calendar year
MOST people are probably getting Hyatt Globalist via the 60 qualifying nights. But you don’t need to “stay” 60 nights… (more below)
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HYATT GLOBALIST STATUS?
- Waived parking fees
- Complimentary breakfast for up to 2 adults + 2 children
- Lounge access (very few of these left)
- Upgrade if available
- 4:00 check out
- Waived resort fees on ALL stays (not just award stays)
- 30% bonus points on qualifying spend
- Complimentary premium internet (by availability of hotel)
- Dedicated Hyatt concierge after staying 60 nights
- Ability to book reservations without having enough points in your account at time of booking (you will need the points by the time of stay)
THAT SOUNDS AMAZING… HELP ME GET THERE!
The World of Hyatt Credit Card
Up to 60,000 points
30,000 points after spending $3K in first 3 months from account opening. Plus, up to 30,000 more points by earning 2 points total per $1 spent in the first 6 months from account opening on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point, on up to $15,000 spent
Holding The World of Hyatt Credit Card is very helpful to earning more qualifying nights.
Why? Because you get…
- 5 tier qualifying nights each year just by holding the World of Hyatt personal card
- 2 tier qualifying nights for every $5K in spend on your The World of Hyatt Credit Card
- The 1 free night certificate (category 1 – 4) you get from having this card (after the 1st year) counts towards a tier qualifying night (as long as you use the certificate π
And if you really want to make your Hyatt spend work for you, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card has an even better option to get more tier qualifying nights…
- 5 tier qualifying nights for every $10K in spend on your World of Hyatt Business Credit Card
Most people will use a strategy that combines holding The World of Hyatt Credit Card, spend on that card and then also stays (paid or with points).
World of Hyatt Business Credit Card
60K Hyatt Points
60,000 Hyatt points after spending $5,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening
However, if you have large business spend… and put $120K on your World of Hyatt business card, that alone will earn you Globalist. HOWEVER, I only recommend this if you have HUGE spend. As think of all of the sign up bonuses on other cards you could get for that $120K… you’ll have to weigh the options here.
STATUS MATCH OPPORTUNITIES & SPECIAL PROMOTIONS
I personally earned Globalist status this year because there was a special promotion between BILT and Hyatt (it was a special “challenge” where you had to earn 20 nights between April 17, 2023 to July 16, 2023).
However, because I earned Globalist this way, which to me is something of a Globalist “Light”… you don’t get the Hyatt Milestone awards along the way OR the personal concierge… that meant I also wanted to get to 60 nights to get ALL the Globalist benefits.
These “Challenges” and “Status Matches” to get Hyatt Globalist pop up here and there. You really never know what will be around the corner.
IS HYATT GLOBALIST RIGHT FOR EVERYONE
It really isn’t. And let me explain why.
Most people would agree that the BIGGEST benefit of Globalist is the free breakfast.
BUT…
Most Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels offer free breakfast to all World of Hyatt members (free to sign up).
So, if you stay in these types of hotels, you won’t get a huge part of the Globalist value.
If you are staying mostly in Hyatt Regency, Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt – then having breakfast at no cost will be a wonderful benefit.

^^^ As you can see, on the 1st receipt we saved $188 for breakfast 1 night at the Park Hyatt New York.
^^^ On the 2nd receipt we saved $150 for breakfast at the Thompson Central Park (NYC).
The breakfast benefit includes the tip also! Which is amazing!
For me, the other HUGE benefit is the 4:00 check out! Being able to have access to our room most of the day if we are flying out late is just such a wonderful benefit!
TIPS FOR GETTING TO 60 NIGHTS
IF the benefits will really add up for you, it may be worth thinking outside the box for some earning opportunities
- Mattress runs – I personally have done “stays” at our local Hyatt to get the last few nights needed for status. I personally never book for more than 2 nights when you aren’t actually staying there. I check in, in person. I put the “do not disturb” on the door. This should be okay for most hotels.
- Buying things on Ebay or Next door or selling them for a small profit – SPENDING on your card so you can get more qualifying nights.
Hyatt has different promotions all the time. It’s really important to keep an eye out for them and always sign up for them!
