How to Move British Airways Avios to Qatar

Did you know you can move Avios between British Airways and Qatar Airways for FREE?

Both airlines use Avios as their points currency, and you can transfer Avios between the two programs instantly at a 1:1 ratio.

Step by Step:

Linking your British Airways & Qatar accounts means you can transfer Avios instantly between the 2 airlines.

You’ll need to have an account with British Airways & Qatar. It is free to create these. Always make sure your name matches across all of your accounts. Be careful when entering birthday on Qatar, it’s a day/month/year sequence.
IMPORTANT: Your accounts must be at least 30 days old before you can link and transfer Avios. I recommend creating both accounts now, even if you don’t have plans to use them yet!
Always make sure your name, email address, and date of birth match across your accounts. Be careful when entering your birthday on Qatar’s website, as it’s in day/month/year format.
While logged in to Qatar, go to this page to link your accounts

3. You’ll click the “Link your accounts” and simply follow prompts – super easy
4. Once accounts are linked, you can go back to that SAME page and click “Combine your Avios

This is instant. And you can easily move them between your British Airways and Qatar accounts.

A Few Things to Know

Transfers are FREE! You won’t lose any Avios when moving between British Airways and Qatar.
You can move Avios both ways. Transfer from British Airways to Qatar and back again whenever you need to.
Transfers are 1:1. Move 100,000 Avios and you’ll receive 100,000 Avios in the other account.
You can transfer more than once. You’re not limited to a single transfer.
Accounts must belong to the same person. You can’t use this feature to transfer Avios directly to someone else’s account.

Why Would You Want to Move Avios Between British Airways and Qatar?

One of my favorite reasons is to book Qatar Airways flights, including their AMAZING Qsuite Business Class!

You can transfer points from programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards to British Airways and then move those Avios to Qatar Airways to book your flight.

And because British Airways and Qatar Airways have different award pricing and availability on some flights, it’s always worth checking BOTH programs before booking.
