Airlines that Let You Hold Award Flights While You Transfer Points
There’s often a fear that you will find an award flight, go transfer your points to that airline to book it, and when you go to book it, the flight will gone. Luckily, there’s a few airlines that allow you to hold award flights while you transfer your points.
Holding Award Flights
These airlines will allow you to hold an award flight while your points transfer. The fee charged isn’t to hold the flight, but it’s the telephone booking fee you’ll need to pay once your points rare transferred and you call the airline back to secure the flights.

Best Practices
- If there’s a separate loyalty program for the airline, call that to hold the ticket. For example, with Air France/KLM, you will want to call Flying Blue (the loyalty program). For most other airlines, you call direct and speak with their award travel department.
- Have the flight information ready for the agent – flight number, time, to/from airport, the names of the people you are holding flights for.
- Once your points have transferred into the airline account, call the airline/loyalty program back to complete the booking over the phone.
